Please support my Team "Need for Speed" in the 2024 BORP Ride to fund adaptive sports and recreation
Hello Friends,
I am finally making good on my promise to join my West Coast Middlebury mates to participate in the annual BORP ride. When my college roommate Hillary Petersen asked me last fall, "How about it?" I made the plan to travel across the country and join the team. We've all been around long enough to know that life can change quickly and opportunities can vanish in a moment.
Several previous rides in MIddlebury, Vt with the Kelley Brush Foundation informed my experience to join and ride with BORP on May 12, 2024. My original inspiration for doing these sorts of rides has been Brad Frazee, our team captain. These rides support adaptive sports programming, play, and adventure for people with physical disabilities.
Many years ago I emailed Brad to connect and share my excitement about having tried surfing for the first time. I always admired that he was a California surfer dude when we were in college together. LIttle did I realize that some months prior he had been in a bad cycling accident and was now adjusting to an extremely different future as an active person with physical disabilities. When I received his return email gently letting me know about his situation, I felt embarrassed and silly for sharing my minor triumphs on a surfboard when he was dealing with so much.
Brad probably wouldn't want me to call attention to him but he is the reason I ride. Children and adults like Brad deserve to experience the same joy and freedom of expression through physical adventures that everyone does. Your donation to BORP today will fund that experience. those adventures, and contribute to human happiness. Please consider supporting my ride and our team with a donation of any amount. No amount is too small. Every gift can make a difference!
Thank you for your faith in me, Brad, and the ride!
Betsy
