It’s that time of year again, when I ask for you to support one of my favorite Bay Area nonprofits. This summer marks the 22nd anniversary of the BORP revolution! On May 12th Bay Area Outreach Recreation Program (BORP) will be hosting their group fundraiser ride in Santa Rosa. The Revolution is the organization’s primary fundraiser for the year. I’m looking forward to riding the 45 mile route on my handcycle with a few close friends and my father. My fundraising goal is $2000. 

I have participated in BORP events since shortly after my injury, when I moved to the Bay Area in 2002, originally volunteering on youth rides when they were biking out of a shipping container on Channing Way in Berkeley. BORP has grown to provide access to adaptive kayaking and rock climbing, as well as supporting wheelchair team sports including, recently, a wheelchair rugby team! These programs benefit a diverse group of people, but they aren't cheap. I know there are many important causes that are in urgent need of support, but if you’ve got a few dollars to spare, anything will help. 

The Revolution Ride Roll & Stroll is BORP's most important fundraising event of the year. Your support and participation keep BORP programing robust and accessible.
